I restored the functionality in my 22 Model 3 using a USB hub from a wrecked car sold on eBay, and I restored the functionality in my wife's newer Model 3 (with AMD Ryzen chip) using an aftermarket hub sold on Amazon along with adding the missing USB male to male line (cable wasn't needed in the 22 with the Atom chip) from that hub to the computer under the passenger side dash. Now all you need to do is plug in your USB drive, go to the appropriate menu setting, and hit Format USB Device, and your Tesla will do all the work for you by correctly formatting and creating the associated folders. Only applicable if you have a newer 2022 Model 3 that is missing USB data from the front console: Try the USB A port in the glovebox to confirm.
Tesla removed that capability from the newer vehicles.
If you have a newer 2022 Model 2 built after November 21, it likely does not have USB data capability in the front console USB C ports. There are two ways to format the flash drive: Insert the flash drive into the USB port and navigate to Controls > Safety > Format USB Drive.
